– to end a (romantic) relationship

– to begin using or wearing something until it becomes comfortable

break off

– to suddenly stop or discontinue

– to serve or become seperated

After I found out he lied to me, I broke off all relationships with him.

She broke off a piece of her sandwich and gave it to her friend.

 

break out

– to escape

– to spread quickly

The killer broke out of jail yesterday.

Ebola broke out in West Africa in 2014.

 

break into

– to enter somewhere by force

– to be admitted into or allowed to enter a profession or business

Tom Cruise broke into Hollywood in the early 1980s.
