I totally forgot (that) it was Sunday, for some reason, and I left way too early.

I was supposed to be there by 8 o'clock but I was there at about 6.

어제, 누구를 데리러 아침 일찍 공항에 가야 했었어. 왜 그랬는지 모르겠는데, 일요일이라는걸 완전 잊고 너무 일찍 출을 했어. 길에 차가 거의 없었어. 8시까지 가기로 했었는데 6시 쯤에 도착해버렸어.

Yesterday, I had to pick up someone at the airport early in the morning. I totally forgot (that) it was Sunday, for some reason, and I left way too early. There was almost no traffic on the road. I was supposed to be there by 8 o'clock but I was there at about 6.

1. 어제, 누구를 데리러 아침 일찍 공항에 가야 했었어.

Yesterday, I had to pick up someone at the airport early in the morning. 

- pick up + 누구 + 어디에서: 누군가를 픽업하러 어디에 가다

 

2. 왜 그랬는지 모르겠는데, 일요일이라는걸 완전 잊고 너무 일찍 출을 했어.

I totally forgot (that) it was Sunday, for some reason, and I left way too early. 

- I totally forgot (that)... 완전 잊고 있었다

- for some reason 왜 그랬는지 모르겠는데/ 왠지

 

3. 길에 차가 거의 없었어. 

There was almost no traffic on the road.

- there was no...무엇이 없었다

- there was almost no... 무엇이 거의 없었다

 

4. 8시까지 가기로 했었는데 6시 쯤에 도착해버렸어.

I was supposed to be there by 8 o'clock but I was there at about 6.

- be supposed to 하기로 했었다, (약속하에) ~해야 했었다

- I was supposed to be there by 8 o'clock.

8시까지 거기에 도착하기로(거기 있기로) 했었다. 

 

* go there가 아닌  be there 쓰임에 주목 *

어디까지 어디에 간다의 의미로 be there가 쓰임을 꼭 기억해 주세요. 

go라는 동사는 A부터 B까지 가는 전체 과정을 의미하므로 어색한 표현이 됩니다.
