 영어공부를 하다가 잘못된 표현이 입에 붙어서 종종 실수하게 되는 경우가 있어요. 몰라서 실수하기도 하고, 때로는 아는데도 불구하고 입에서 자동으로 나오게 되는 경우도 있습니다. 정말 방심하면 실수하고 틀리게 되는 영어 표현들을 좋은 예문과 함께 정리해서 알아봅니다.

→ My friends and I went there the other day.
2.  I’d like to discuss about~(X) 

→ I’d like to discuss ~ 

3. I’ll see you in this evening.(X)

→  I’ll see you this evening.
4. 감정 동사일 때 사람은 p.p., 사물은 ing
→ 사람에게도 boring, embarrassing 처럼 ing를 쓸 수 있음

1. Me and my friends went there the other day.(X)
    – 상대를 먼저(예의상 상대를 먼저 말하는 게 더 보편적)
    – 주격은 I

    My friends and I went there the other day.(O)
    *the other day 저번에

    My wife and I were wondering, will that really keep us safer?
    Devon and I were wondering how it works.
    Alex and I are having dinner tomorrow night.

    Let’s discuss some issues we’ve been having.(O)
    
    *discuss about something은 redundant (불필요한)
    Testbook: To discuss something means to ‘talk about’ it.  (talk about == discuss)
              The preposition ‘about’ after ‘discuss’ is actually a redundancy developed colloquially.
              Grammatically ‘discuss’ is a transitive verb(타동사) and hence always takes an object.
              Thus, ‘about’ is not required.

–  discuss about 그것에 대해서 대해서 얘기하다? 불필요함

 

    <나눌 얘기/의논할 게 정말 많다고 할 때>
    Whenever you’re most comfortable. We have a lot to discuss.
    
    A: Is there an issue with her you’d like to discuss?

    *find: 여기다, 생각하다.

     = We had a discussion about it yesterday.

* discuss = have a discussion about 
    
    How are we doing time-wise? 우리 시간면에서 어때? 시간에 맞춰서 여유롭게 잘 진행하고 있어? 
    Do we have time to discuss one more item on the agenda?

     안건에 대한 사안에 있어 한가지 더 얘기할 수 있을까? 
  *time-wise

    Let’s discuss Rachel’s birthday.
    
    <유의사항: 여기에선 about이 plenty more에 적용됨>

    *last, this, next + 시기를 나타내는 단어(요일, week, month 등)와 같이 쓰이면 부사로 바뀜.
