2-1. word 그냥 말

  *(Technically) 따지고 보면 ‘잠깐 말 좀 할 수 있을까’를 물어볼때는 Can I 보단 May I가 더 정확한 표현입니다.
– can은 theoretical possibility (이론적인 가능성)
– may는 factual possibility (사실적인 가능성): 허락의 느낌이 강한 may

    구슬: Can I go to the bathroom?
    선생님: Yes, you can, but you may not.
→ 다리가 있으니 화장실을 갈 수는 있지만, 내가 허락하지 않을지도 몰라.

    May I have a word (with you)?
    May I have a word with you in private? 잠깐 따로 얘기 좀 할 수 있을까?

2-2. word (약속을 보장하는)말/약속
    Keep your word. 네가 한 말/약속 지켜.

3. call 전화, 결정/판단
    It’s your call. 그건 네가 결정해.
